Mutated, morphed, and altogether mangled, this is just the life that was chosen for it.
Mintaka Alcantara, commonly known as Taka, is an admin of Team Meteor and the son of Solaris.
Taka is an oddly friendly Team Meteor admin who doesn't seem to take their goals so seriously, even giving the player information on how to beat them. He talks very casually for someone of his rank and has a quite a humorous side. Despite being part of Team Meteor, Taka is rather friendly and doesn't seem to mind failing at his missions (although he does worry about the consequences).
Story Events[]
Obsidia Ward[]
Taka can be optionally found in the Devon Corp building in the Obsidia Ward while Team Meteor is wreaking havoc in Obsidia Park. He complains that he's being forced to be there, and offers to sell the player a few general goods. When Meteor abandons the ward, a nondescript salesman takes his place.
Malchous Forest[]
Taka is first formally met inside the destroyed Jasper Ward Gym in the Malchous Forest, where he laments the damage caused by the PULSE Machine, telling the player that he wants to let it go but can't because he's working for Team Meteor. He then orders a group of Team Meteor grunts to surround the player, after which Heather arrives to take on the grunts while the player fights Taka. Once Taka is defeated, he informs the player that there's another PULSE Tangrowth in the Beryl Ward before Heather flies the player and herself out of the shaking building.
Rhodochrine Jungle[]
On the way through the Rhodochrine Jungle, the player is potentially trapped in a Nuzleaf cage. If the player refuses to beg Fern to open the cage, a Chatot will open the cage after a minute of waiting. It is heavily implied that this is Taka's Chatot.
Taka can then be found assisting in guarding the PULSE Tangrowth by the Rhodochrine Tree alongside ZEL, Ace, Borealis, and other lower-ranked Team Meteor members. Here, Taka mentions that he invited the player here to help deal with things. He then ends up fighting either Cain (if the player avoided getting trapped in a Nuzleaf cage) or Fern (if the player did get trapped) while the player takes on Ace, and disappears from the area once Ace has been defeated.
Azurine Island[]
Taka is next met on Azurine Island with Cain as a hostage. He explains Team Meteor's plans with the PULSE Camerupt to the player before challenging them to a battle. After losing to the player, he lets Cain and the player leave and retreats to Pyrous Mountain with the PULSE-Camerupt.
Pyrous Mountain[]
Once Victoria and the player make it to the top of Pyrous Mountain in an attempt to stop Team Meteor from destroying Apophyll Academy, they find Taka there alongside Solaris and Cal, fighting against Cain. Here, Taka reveals that he is Solaris's son before he battles Victoria while the player fights Solaris. After Cal destroys the PULSE-Camerupt, Taka retreats with the rest of Team Meteor.
Water Treatment Center[]
Taka is later encountered when the player teams up with Titania in the Water Treatment Center. He subtly helps the player and Titania throughout the whole level and assures Titania that Amaria is safe. Titania quickly guesses that Taka has no intention of stopping them, which Taka confirms. After Titania confirms Amaria's condition and takes back the Sapphire Bracelets from Taka, he asks the player to battle him to make it look like he tried so he can uphold his facade. When Titania challenges his attitude, Taka explains that he wants to quit Team Meteor, but that he feels the bloodline he shares with Solaris will not allow it. He states that the only reason he’s a part of Team Meteor is due to his father, and that he doesn't really agree with what they're doing. After Titania refuses, Taka begs the player to show him mercy. The player then has the choice to battle Taka or not.
If the player chooses to battle Taka in the Water Treatment Center, a relieved Taka will thank you after you defeat him and wish you good luck. This choice will put the player on the Zekrom Route.
If the player chooses not to battle Taka in the Water Treatment Center, he laments the player's decision.
Regardless of the player's choice, Ace will show up shortly thereafter and challenge the player to a battle to reclaim the Sapphire Bracelets. If the player fought Taka, their team is healed, but there is no opportunity to change teams between the fights. Once Ace has been defeated, they realize that the player doesn't actually have the Sapphire Bracelets, to which Taka tells them that Titania took them by threatening him with her Aegislash. If the player did not fight Taka, Ace then calls him out because there's no sign of a fight taking place in the area. Ace then signals to Team Meteor that the bracelets are missing, after which the player leaves.
Ace and Taka then share a private conversation once the player has left. Here, Taka confesses that he doesn't know what to do— he is initially hesitant to say anything out of fear of Lin or Solaris finding out, but Ace picks up on what is wrong. Taka states that he no longer supports Team Meteor's— and his father's— actions, but Lin is holding his back against the wall under the threat that if he fails once more, he would not get any more second chances. Ace says that neither they nor Solaris would stand for such a thing, and agrees that Lin and Sirius have corrupted Team Meteor to a shell of its former self, saying that it is time to contact Solaris about taking action. Taka is resigned and tells Ace that Solaris will not listen to him, so Ace offers to contact Solaris instead and let him know that Lin needs to be removed from the team.
Tourmaline Desert[]
If the player refuses to battle Taka in the Water Treatment Center, when the player reaches the Tourmaline Desert, Taka is encountered at the train station. He challenges the player to another battle, claiming not to have a choice anymore. After losing, he concludes he can no longer go back to Team Meteor and expresses his admiration of the player. He then asks if he can follow the player through the desert.
If the player answers No, Taka will leave the player to explore the desert alone. This choice will put the player on the Mixed Route.
If the player answers Yes, he will be the player's partner in all battles throughout the desert, including the Sugiline Cave and Ruins, the Teknite Cave and Ridge, and the Mirage Tower. This choice will put the player on the Reshiram Route.
He will not leave the player until the player takes the train back to Reborn City or reaches the Train Town part of the scrapyard, when he and the player meet Europa. Taka expresses joy at the prospect of staying in Train Town and is given his own apartment train by Europa. He then lies down and attempts to sleep.
Belly of the Beast[]
Taka does not appear here on this route.
Taka is then encountered when the player climbs Titania's castle tower after having been ambushed by Lin. He tells the player that he is glad to see them and implores them to believe him that he did not want any of this to happen. He then vanishes, claiming that he will find a way to help the player. After reaching the cave part of Titania's gym and battling a Reshiram statue, Lin ambushes the player in knight's armor and Titania stabs her from behind. It is then revealed that Titania mistakenly stabbed Taka instead of Lin, who then appears to mock Titania and the player even further. After Titania stabs Lin in a second attempt, the player can interact with Taka, who mutters a resigned "this is fine" before dying. Titania, who is haunted by her action, vows to take care of Taka's body after her gym fight with the player.
The Void[]
When the player is trapped in Gossip Gardevoir's void, Taka can be seen in a scene with Luna and their parents, Solaris and Elias.
When the player is trapped in Gossip Gardevoir's void, Taka can be seen in a scene with Luna and their parents, Solaris and Elias. If the player defeated Solaris' Garchomp on Pyrous Mountain, Taka appears before the player, seemingly fading in and out of existence. He expresses his wish to be more like the player and implores them not to forget him. He then vanishes.
Agate City[]
Taka appears again just before the player's battle against Solaris in Agate City. After the player defeats Solaris, Sirius mocks him for being incompetent and compares him to Taka. Taka then steps up and rescues Ciel and Samson, openly betraying Team Meteor, which leads to Sirius chasing him down.

Labradorra City - Labradorra Arena[]
The player encounters Taka at an abandoned building during the Labradorra raid, with one of his eyes damaged and bandaged. He laments that his betrayal would lead to such a fate but still does not regret his choice. Victoria helps him walk out of the building.
Later during the raid, Taka confronts his father, Solaris, and tells him that he can't work for Team Meteor anymore. Solaris tells his son that he needs to be more assertive even in rejecting Team Meteor, insisting that Taka still lacks resolve even now that he's trying to choose his own path. Once Taka leaves, Solaris remarks that he's glad Taka's abandoning the "sinking ship" that is Meteor now that Lin has seized control.
During the Labradorra Tournament, Taka is paired with Zero against Cal and Victoria. He is referred to by Terra as "THE LITTLE SPERM THAT COULDN'T". In accordance with his expectation of being "cannon fodder", they lose in the very first round.Taka does not appear here on this route.
Taka does not appear here on this route; however, a cardboard cutout of Taka is assigned to fight alongside Zero in the first round of the Labradorra Tournament against Victoria and Cal. After Zero complains about getting a piece of cardboard as his partner, Terra tells him that it's the player's fault for abandoning him in the desert to die. Taka is referred to by Terra as "THE LITTLE SPERM THAT COULDN'T".
Charous Mountain - Vacant Past - Charous Hall[]
At the peak of Charous Mountain, Taka is found reflecting. He claims that his father had told him of a temple dedicated to Arceus, which once existed in the same place as the current Pokemon League. It was run by Taka’s grandparents. He doubts Solaris would have wanted them to see how he turned out as their grandchild. Not long after, Taka takes notice of the Celebi besides them, noting that it seems rough, as if it's sick. He is able to inform the player of what Celebi is because he read his grandfather’s books, which were filled with information on medicine and Legendary Pokemon. As he laments the unfortunate events that happened in Charous Mountain, Taka hands the player a Fresh Water to water the Celebi. He speculates that it may give it enough strength to go back to the time period it belongs in, but worries about what may happen to him in that journey. His idea works out, and Celebi takes both himself and the player to the past.
All three of them reappear in the old temple, before Charous Hall existed. Taka warns the player about his grandfather being "a stickler". He steps forward as he is greeted by him, and asks him for help. His grandfather agrees to help him, introducing himself as Taube Alcantara. Taube almost immediately notices Celebi’s identity. Taka introduces the player as the important one, and himself as someone irrelevant, merely along for the ride. Taube disagrees with the notion, drawing attention to Celebi’s faith in the player as well as Taka. He also mentions his newborn, which Taka knows to be his father. Taka thanks Taube for wanting to help them, and clarifies that the player is also Reborn's Champion. Taube walks to the arena, awaiting the player’s challenge. Taka decides to watch, overwhelmed with the experience of meeting his grandfather not long after his father’s birth. He also likely wonders why Taube is so compassionate compared to his father, and if skill in battle truly runs in his family.
When the battle ends, Taka congratulates Taube on his noteworthy skill. Taube assures that he isn’t someone special, but rather has amazing Pokemon. Among these is a Chatot, which Taka believes to possibly be the one his own Chatot is descended from. Taube, Taka, and the player all descend to the temple’s garden to meet Celebi.
The garden’s size and variety greatly impresses Taka, who regrets having little for himself compared to his family. He also regrets Charous Hall replacing the temple. Both Taka and Taube congratulate the player for defeating Celebi. Once again, Taka thanks Taube for their help, and apologizes for keeping him from his newborn. In response, Taube speaks on how great his hope and faith on Solaris is, calling him the sky’s “brightest star”, who will guide the region to a better future. This disturbs Taka, who ends up wishing to leave.
Celebi’s next time travel takes Taka and the player slightly forward in time, but still in the past. Thus, they find themselves in the first Elite Four room of Charous Hall, which is occupied by Elena Molinar. Taka speaks about Solaris, telling the player that his real name was Phoenix. Elena finds them, and bombards Taka with questions. Before he can fully answer any one question, she asks another, however. Taka comments on how intense she is, but finds it sad that he can’t tell her how tragic the future will be for her and Corey. Before long, Celebi regains its strength, and takes Taka and the player to a closer past to the present.
Now inside the fourth Elite Four chamber, Taka is able to understand that Corey (or Agent Borealis, as he knew him) was empty because he lost Elena. The player and Taka hear a voice farther ahead, which Taka recognizes as Ame’s. Once they approach her, Ame mistakes them for state officers, seeking to apprehend her for trying to take in Cleffa plushes from Anna’s chamber. She looses to the player, and Taka takes the opportunity to explain their situation to Ame. In this time, Celebi recovers its strength once more, sending Taka and the player to the future of their present, ten years later.
Now inside the Champion’s chamber, the three time travelers are found by Heather. At first, Taka confuses her for Elena, given their near-equal appearances. Heather reveals to them that their current Champion predicted their arrival, and thus sought the Relic Stone. She also reassures Taka that he was missed by many. Taka makes a question about the Champion’s identity, and Heather takes them to Reborn's future Champion. On their way, Taka continues to feel surprised about having been missed by people. Taka is also surprised to see Shelly is the new Champion. Before returning, however, Shelly requests the player to battle her formally as Champion. Taka is relieved not to be the player, since everyone they’ve met thus far has tried to challenge them. He also recognizes Reborn is filled with great trainers, since they were able to maintain and better it without the player. After Shelly is defeated, she offers to take them to Agate City to meet everyone else. Taka expresses his gratitude for that, and for helping them with Celebi. He also wonders if he was missed at all by those who will be in Agate City. However, he remembers Taube wouldn’t want him to doubt that people care about him, so he instead hopes he wasn’t missed too much. Taka is then taken with the player and Celebi by Shelly to Agate City.Taka does not appear here on this route.

Scrapyard Dialogue |
[???]: Well, howdy, partners!
[???]: We thought we was hearin' some kinda racket, [???]: But we figured it was just the local Steelix givin' it a good tussle again. [Taka]: Uhh, nope. No Steelix. [Taka]: Just two crazy people with a train. [???]: Well, you know we all been there. Some good ol' fashioned train-joustin' is the best sport we got out here! [Taka]: That sounds safe. [???]: Anyway, my name's Europa! Y'all lookin' for a place to rest? [Taka]: Rest? I don't think I've heard of that before. [Europa]: Ohh, you joker! We don't exactly get a lot of visitors out here, but there's a few of us who hang together for our own reasons. Some of us are chasin' peace, others fleein' violence. It don't matter who you are though, you're welcome to stay with us as long as you like. We got each other here, and that's all we need. [Taka]: This... might work out. [Europa]: Y'all got a story to tell? [Taka]: <player> probably has several. And I uh... I'm just looking for somewhere safe. [Europa]: Well, congrats! You found it! If'n you'd like, I can set you up with one of your own personal trains and what few accomodations we've got. [Taka]: So-- wait, you guys just, live in the trains out here? Cuz you can? [Europa]: Pretty much! [Taka]: ... [Taka]: Yeah, sounds great. [Taka]: If it's no trouble, that'd be... a big relief. [Europa]: Well, right this way, sir!
[Europa]: (to the player) He your boyfriend or somethin'? [Europa]: (regardless of the answer) Oh, I'm just playin' with ya. But if you lookin' to stay too, the two of you can share, or I'm sure we can find you another car. (The player enters the train.) [Taka]: Well, this is perfect. [Europa]: Y'all like it? [Taka]: Yeah. This is me. [Europa]: Then it's all yours! Feel free to clean up or redecorate however you like! And if you need anything, just let me or one of the others know and we'll see what we can do for you. I image y'all are mighty tired, but when you feel up to it, come out and introduce yourselves to the rest of the folk here. Everyone's always excited to meet a new friend! Until then, I'll leave you be. (Europa leaves.) [Taka]: Maybe I'll take her up on that... Sleep is sounding pretty swell right now. <player>, thanks for bringing me here. I feel like, maybe things will be okay. I guess I'm gonna take a nap, and then... Let's talk more later, okay? (If you interact with Taka lying on a bench) [Taka]: I don't know if I'll really be able to sleep, but I sure need to try anyway. [Taka]: (With a relationship variable of 8 or higher) Mmm... <player>? You're not going too far, right? I feel like... Maybe I could sleep better if you're near by... |
Titania's Gym |
[Taka]: <player>! [Taka]: Up here! [Taka]: I'm so glad to see you. I-- [Taka]: I woke up here, and Lin-- [Taka]: I'm sorry, <player>. [Taka]: I'm so sorry-- [Taka]: I didn't want her to-- [Taka]: I didn't want this. [Taka]: I didn't want this... [Taka]: Please, believe me... [Taka]: I'm--- [Taka]: I'll try and find a way to you. [Taka]: I'll-- find a way down. [Taka]: Just hold on. [Taka]: Please...
[Taka]: <player>...? [Taka]: ... [Taka]: Don't worry... [Taka]: This-- [Taka]: This is fine...
There's no response anymore... |
In the void (if the player defeated Solaris' Garchomp) |
[Taka]: <player>-- [Taka]: I... [Taka]: I don't want-- [Taka]: To... give up... [Taka]: I want-- [Taka]: To be able... to fight like you... [Taka]: Please-- [Taka]: It hurts... [Taka]: Don't-- [Taka]: Don't forget me... |

Trivia[]
- Taka's name means 'Hawk' in Japanese, a reference to his Chatot. His full name, Mintaka, is a reference to a star within the constellation of Orion.
- Taka's sprite heavily resembles Morty from the original Pokemon games.
- When he tags along with in the desert, he reveals several things about himself and Team Meteor:
- His mother was paid by Solaris to have him.
- Luna was a childhood friend of his (they grew up together with Lukah/Luna as a servant of the Hazel family to the Alcantara family). Taka also appears to blame himself for Luna's "delusions".
- Lin is narcoleptic, meaning she falls asleep at random times during the day.
- Blake used to babysit him when he was younger and apparently likes kids.
- Solaris asked ZEL to look after Taka when they are not busy with the PULSE.
- Ace gets along with every member of Team Meteor except Terra and Lin and was said to liven the place up a lot.
- Taka cannot swim.
- If you backtrack to Train Town after encountering Lin in Titania's gym in the Reshiram path, Taka will still be in the train with no change in his dialogue.
- If you talk to Marcello with Taka as your companion, Taka will buy the player a lemonade. (This is only possible through a walk through walls mod.)
- According to the tabletop notes found in the Sanctum, Taka's tabletop character is Chahkka, a LV 6 druid "winged-one" with a true neutral alignment. He used to play this game with Lumi, Eve, Zero, and Ace, with Terra joining the game at a later date.
- According to Amethyst, Taka belongs to Reborn user Ice, and gave permission to Amethyst to use him, as well several other characters belonging to him and another user, Will. Chatot as his signature pokemon was also part of the original character (he was also originally supposed to be a flying type specialist, hence the Minior and Gliscor on his team) [1]
