Serra Voclain is the eighth Gym Leader of the Reborn region, as well as the mother of Bennett. She specializes in the Ice-type and is fought at Spinel Gym, where she hands out the Rime Badge, the sixth Gym Badge the player receives.
Serra is a calm mature women, although she tends to recall the past, which depresses her a bit. She was a formal model, and retired into the gym leader position after Bennet was born. Serra cares deeply for her son, and even cares about her adopted daughter, Luna, who appeared out of nowhere.
In the game
Serra is first met outside the Spinel Gym, when a PokeMart was teleported to the roof of the Gym. After Bennett asks the player if they has seen Luna, Serra explains how Luna randomly appeared one day and claimed Serra to be her mother (which Serra further clarifies that her only child is Bennett). Serra takes her in as her adopted daughter, but later on left without a trace. After El arrives in search of Luna, his supposed daughter, Serra tells him that she is no longer in her company. She then invites El to be a spectator in her gym battle with the player.
After the gym battle ends, Serra returns to her living room and tells the player that Bennett left to go study with El to join the Elite Four. While talking, she mentions how Luna and Gossip Gardevoir also chose to leave Serra, and how all things seem to fade away. This is also a reference to her previous life as a former model before choosing to leave her career behind to take care of Bennett.

GARDEVOIR: What's the matter? You seem almost disappointed! SERRA: No, Not in the least. Neither by the interview nor by you not collecting your things-- Lord knows no one else is using those rooms. It's just been a long time since I've had a public interview. It's not a feeling I'd expected to miss. GARDEVOIR: That's right, you gave up your career for your son before. Do you regret doing that? SERRA: It's... hard to say. I think the best way to put it is, although I do feel remorse for what I've lost, I wouldn't change my decision even if I could. There are more important things than passions and careers. GARDEVOIR: You mean your son, of course. How touching! But, tell me, how do you respond to the recent developments wherein he's fallen in with the terrorist organization Team Meteor? SERRA: I'm sorry, he's what?
