The Pyrous Mountain is a volcano located next to the Apophyll Academy.

In the game

When the player and Victoria first met Kiki in the academy, Kiki gave both a separate task. The player was given the task to climb Pyrous Mountain to defeat Cal.

Later on, after exposing Team Meteor's plan to erupt the volcano, the player climbs the mountain again. This time teamed up with Victoria. At the peak, Solaris challenges the player into a battle, claiming that he can defeat the player only using one Pokemon.

Note: Winning or losing the battle with Solaris will determine your tag-partner in the Fiore Mansion.

Special Encounters

Turtonator or Heatmor

Either a Turtonator can be found on the bottommost part of Pyrous Mountain with the lava switch or a Heatmor down the hole on B1F.

Tepig

Tepig Special Encounter

Lava Lizards

Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard can be fished in the lava by using the Super Rod.

Battle Tip(s):

  • Use Focus Sash on a Pokemon with the move Curse like Gengar. Solaris' Garchomp will succumb to the curse before you run out of Pokemon (assuming, of course, you have a full team).
  • Alternatively, one can also use Igglybuff that is obtainable from Peridot Ward and simply use the Egg Move Perish Song.
  • You might be able to use the event Murkrow from Lapis alley. It can have prankster and perish song.
  • You can also use Focus Sash on a Pokemon with the move Endeavor. After that, you only need an attack that goes first (Quick attack, ice shard, Aqua Jet, etc).

Trivia

  • Upon defeating Solaris, he will play it off as him simply getting bored with the battle. Which is understandable, as in-universe he most likely has the rest of his team on him.
  • Defeating Solaris causes a shift in the timeline. Instead of facing off against Solaris and an Orderly with Florina, Julia will be your partner instead.
