Field Note[]

Name: Field Effect Read-Out 36
Location: Wasteland Wall
Earliest available: After Badge 08

Guide:

You must get the Green Crystal Key from Iolia Valley before proceeding.

If you cannot use Fly outside of battle, go to the 4th entrance to the South from the left (where you fought Fern). Go down to South Aventurine Woods. Go down into Tanzan Mountain.

South 23Wall 2.5

If you can use Fly outside of battle, go to Tanzan Cove, then go down into Tanzan Mountain and take the left path.

Wall 1Wall 2

Regardless, go right into the cave that Saphira created when she broke through the wall. Use the Crystal Key on the Green Crystal.

Wall 3Wall 4

Smash the newly-formed Green Crystal wall with Rock Smash and follow the path. Jump down the ledge on the right like in the right photo.

Wall 5Wall 6

Jump down the ledge in the bottom right corner to land on the wall. Follow the path around, jump off the ledge at the end of the path and exit the cave.

Wall 7Wall 8

Follow the path on the left side and enter the opening. Push the top boulder and go into the opening in the bottom right corner.

Wall 9Wall 11

In the new area, push the top boulder right, go down, and push the lower boulder right. Go into the opening in the bottom right corner.

Wall 12Wall 13

You will end up in a room containing a large amount of boulders. The goal here is to move the boulders in such a way that allows you to activate all 3 machines in one go. If you mess up, simply exit and re-enter the room to reset the puzzle. Upon activating all 3 machines, the tree at the back will disappear and reveal a secret entrance. You only have to do this puzzle once. The right photo shows one way to push the boulders aside to reach all 3 machines.

Dhelmise 2.1Wall 14

Go through the entrance and go down the ladder on the left. In the lower floor, go right and down the hole.

Wall 15Wall 16

The next steps differ slightly depending on whether you have cleared the Wasteland Wall Boulder Puzzle or not.

If you haven't cleared the puzzle, click "Expand" below.

In the new floor, push the boulder right into the hole, and jump into the hole after that as well.

Wall 17Wall 18

In the new floor, push the boulder all the way to the right, then climb up the ladder twice.

Wall 19Wall 20

After that, push the boulder left into the hole and jump into the hole after that. After landing, do NOT push the boulder further left. Instead, go right and jump down the hole.

Wall 21Wall 22

After landing, jump into the hole on the left. You will return to the beginning. Go right and jump into the hole on the right.

Wall 23Wall 24

Go right and jump into the hole on the right again. After landing, go right and climb up the ladder.

Wall 25Wall 26

Push the boulder all the way to the right and jump into the hole as well.

Wall 27Wall 27.5

After that, push the boulder all the way to the right, and climb up the ladder three times.

Wall 28Wall 29

If you already cleared the puzzle, click "Expand" below.

In the new floor, jump into the hole on the right. After landing, push the boulder all the way to the right, then climb up the ladder twice.

Wall 18Wall 19

After that, jump into the hole on the left. After landing, go right and jump down the hole on the right.

Wall 21.5Wall 22.5

After that, push the boulder all the way to the right, and climb up the ladder three times.

Wall 28Wall 29

At last, go all the way to the left.

Field 36

Transitions from Other Fields[]

  • This Field is generated by the move Topsy-Turvy for 3 turns if the user does not hold an Everstone (6 turns if the user holds an Amplifield Rock). Also, if Topsy-Turvy is used again while the Field is active, the duration of the Field will be changed to 3/6 turns from that turn.

General Effects[]

Inverted type chart[]

The type chart is 'inverted'. This means that any type that would be resistant or immune to another type is now weak to that type instead, and any type that would be weak to another type is now resistant to that type instead. There are some specific interactions to keep in mind:

  • Stealth Rock is affected, so Pokémon take damage based on their weakness or resistance to Rock under the inverse type chart.
  • Strong winds cause Bug, Fighting, Grass and Ground moves to deal neutral damage to Flying-type Pokémon.
  • Freeze-Dry will still hit Water types for super-effective damage.
  • Abilities such as Thick Fat, Sap Sipper and Wonder Guard that provide a type resistance or immunity still function normally.
  • Flying-type Pokémon do not become grounded even though susceptible to Ground moves.

Note: Thunder Wave still does not affect Ground-type Pokémon (unlike in the Inverse Battles of the Gen 6 main series games).
