Cool story, bro.
Blake Whitaker, also known under the codename Canis Major, is a former Ice type Gym Leader of Reborn League and the older brother of Cal.
Story Events[]
Citrine Mountain (Optional)[]
If the player defeats the Beartic threatening the Smoochum inside a cave in Citrine Mountain before earning their seventh gym badge, Blake can be found waiting for them outside the cave. He thanks the player for dealing with the problem after explaining that the Beartic's just doing what it needs to to survive, before leaving.
Agate Circus (Optional)[]
To be updated After watching Amaria jump off the Celestinine Cascade waterfall but before defeating Charlotte and earning their 11th Gym Badge, Blake can be encountered in the Agate Circus, raving about the funnel cake they serve there.
Background Information[]
Blake is mentioned several times throughout the story before he makes his first non-cameo appearance in Ametrine City. He is first referenced by Cal, although not by name, when he mentions his older brother who specializes in Ice-types and whom Cal has been trying to one-up. Solaris implies that this brother is also working with Team Meteor atop Pyrous Mountain.
By name, Blake is first mentioned by Cain in the Vanhanen Castle as the individual who adopted Heather; when Shelly learns about this after the player first makes it to Calcenon City, she panics, revealing that Blake is Cal's brother and that she's heard bad thing about him.
Ametrine City[]
Blake is first non-optionally met in Ametrine City, where he tells the player and Shelly to leave while they explore the house formerly belonging to Eve and Lumi. Shelly and the player then track him down to his apartment, looking for information on Heather's whereabouts. Blake informs them that he's part of Team Meteor before offering to trade the Ruby Ring for the TMX for Waterfall and information on Heather's location. The player is given the option of whether to agree to this trade.
If the player gives Blake the ring, they are given the TMX for Waterfall. Blake then reveals that he had to lock Heather up for handing out food and hints that there's a way to find Heather from inside his apartment before he leaves to give the Ruby Ring to Solaris.
After finding the secret entrance, rescuing Heather, and Shelly running off after being startled by Cal, Blake can then be found facing off against Heather as the player and Shelly climb Ametrine Mountain in pursuit of Blake. Heather lectures Blake about being a bad person, to which Blake responds (only if the police did not ambush Corey in the Beryl Ward) that her father was also working with Team Meteor, to Heather's disbelief. Blake then heads off, leaving Meteor grunts behind to fight the player and Shelly.
Near the top of Ametrine Mountain, the player (now accompanied by Cal) runs into Blake again. Cal refuses to listen to Blake's taunts, and after Cal and the player battle two Meteor grunts, Blake pushes Cal off the side of the mountain.
The player then battles Blake alone once they reach the peak of Ametrine Mountain. After Blake is defeated, Shelly shows up and asks Blake to return the Ruby Ring. He refuses, but Heather and Cal then arrive by air and steal the ring back. Blake then retreats via helicopter, but not before informing the group that whoever told them about the Agate sleep spell being controlled from Ametrine was lying.
When Blake finds out that the player has the Ruby Ring, he will steal the ring and run off, after informing the player that he had to lock Heather up for handing out food. In this route, he does not tell the player and Shelly how to find Heather.
After the player and Shelly meet up with Cal outside, find the secret entrance in Blake's apartment, and rescue Heather, Blake can be found facing off against Cal near the base of Ametrine Mountain. Upon the player's arrival, Blake leaves, ordering two Meteor grunts to face off against Cal and the player. This happens again slightly further up, before Shelly and the player catch up to Blake near the mountain's peak.
At the peak of Ametrine Mountain, the player battles Blake alone after Shelly loses to him. Once Blake is defeated, she asks him to give back the Ruby Ring. He refuses, but Heather and Cal then arrive by air and steal the ring back. Blake then retreats via helicopter, but not before informing the group that whoever told them about the Agate sleep spell being controlled from Ametrine was lying.Fiore Mansion[]
Blake then appears as part of the Meteor team that raids Fiore Mansion in an attempt to claim the Sapphire Bracelets from Titania and Amaria alongside Fern, Sirius, Solaris, and several Meteor grunts. After a pair of grunts fail to defeat the player and Florinia and Fern's ploy to pretend to be captured doesn't work, Blake teams up with Fern to fight Florinia and the player. He then retreats alongside the rest of Team Meteor once Solaris has also been defeated.
The Void[]
During the void sequence in the Glass Workstation, a sequence plays where a younger version of Blake physically hurts a younger version of Cal, causing him to also run away. Further on, a scene from the brothers' childhood plays. After Cal did something unspecified wrong, they were kicked out of their house during winter and forced to stay out in the snow. Blake nags at Cal for complaining about their circumstances, furthermore rejecting Cal's attempt at apologizing and telling him that he would rather be like his father than his brother.
Victory Road[]
Blake can be found near the entrance of Victory Road alongside Fern and Sirius, introducing himself by ordering his Alolan Sandslash to attack the player with an icicle. After telling the player that the Meteor members they fought so far were nothing compared to those they have yet to face, he attacks the player as they explore the first large room of Victory Road. Once the player destroys the platform Blake is standing on, he disappears.
Blake is then encountered on the bottom floor of the Sapphire Branch of Victory Road, having just been defeated by Cal when the player shows up. After Cal walks out, informing Blake that there's only one exit and refusing to listen to his taunts, a Light Shard appears and allows Blake to heal his team. He then asks the player if they will stand in his way to go fight Cal again, battling them no matter their response. After Blake is defeated, he complains about Lin not following through on her promised assistance, before telling the player that she intends to win alone and that he wants the player to defeat her. He then walks out to meet up with his brother.

Trivia[]
- Blake's name is a word play on 'Flake" in snowflake.
- Blake's VS sprite is based on that of Pryce from Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
- Blake and Cal's relationship can be related to Cain and Abel, where Blake is the Cain to Cal's Abel.
- Blake used to babysit Taka
- Before EP17, Blake's ace was Walrein (especially during the online league). This was changed to Alolan Sandslash, although the appearance of it does match Blake's hairstyle.
- During the online league, Blake was actually less aggressive than he is in the game (although he was still a jerk). He also temporarily adopted Heather before she left the league. [1]
