This article contains plot details about events that occur later in the game.
The Elite Four are four high-ranking trainers that are battled at Charous Hall. They must be fought before challenging the Champion, and cannot be fought until a challenger acquires all 18 Gym Badges. Each Elite Four member specializes in two types, and they are fought in a fixed order.
In an alternate timeline, the Elite Four consists of Heather, Luna, Titania, and Fern. Titania took over Elias's room, while Luna and Fern replaced Laura and Bennett after their resignations.
At the beginning of the game, the Elite Four consisted of Heather, Laura, El, and Anna. Heather inherited her position from her mother Elena after her death. During the game, El falsifies Laura's resignation so that Bennett can take her place, though Laura and Bennett later agree to share the position. When the player first reaches the Elite Four, they fight Heather, Laura and Bennett, Elias, and Anna. After each fight, the player is given that member's respective crystal key.
The Elite Four cannot be challenged again until the Magearna quest, where the player must team up with Flora in order to reach the PULSE-Abra in the champion room. At this point, Anna is unavailable, so Bennett assumes her position full-time. This lineup of Heather, Laura, El, and Bennett is fought in all subsequent challenges.
During the Celebi quest, the player travels back in time, where they meet and fight Elena, who is the third member of the Elite Four at the time.
First Challenge[]
Heather[]
Heather is battled on a Mountain field in a Single Battle format.
Bennett is battled on a Rainbow Field in a Double Battle format and he has no healing items. The player fights alongside Flora. The Rainbow Field when destroyed becomes the Forest Field.
Laura is battled on a Flower Garden Field in a Single Battle format. All of the player's Pokemon will be set to level 100. The battle always starts with Rain.
When Laura and Bennett fight as a tag team, their Pokemon are shared, proving that they are programmed like a single trainer. This is further proven by the fact they only have 6 pokemon despite being two elite four members.
