When we were together, it felt like you were always picking up the pieces of my heart, all made of glass, and gently placing them back together.
Amaria Fiore is the Water type Gym Leader of the Reborn League and an alumnus of the Onyx Trainers' School. She hands out the Torrent Badge, the 16th badge the player receives.
Amaria is very cheerful and kind to everyone, and is shown to go out of her way to help others. However, despite all of her kindness she gives to others, she isn't very kind to herself. Amaria is also Titania's significant other and deeply cares about her, and she'll do anything to keep her around.
Story Events[]
Trigger Warning!
This article contains some content relating to depression and suicide. Caution is advised. |
Coral Ward[]
Amaria is first encountered in the Coral Ward, where she is trying to rescue a Popplio. After getting assistance from Cain, she realizes she needs to head to the Obsidia Ward to help Florinia with her troubles.
Obsidia Ward[]
Amaria and Florinia meet up with the player in front of the Obsidia Park, giving the player TMX1 Cut to clear a path. Amaria and Florinia enter ahead of the player, but are quickly captured by ZEL.
After being released, Amaria mulls over the recent disasters Team Meteor could have been behind, and decides to report to Ame. She heartily thanks the player for their help, and bids them and Florinia farewell, using Julia's nickname for Florinia.
Onyx Trainers' School[]
An entry from Amaria’s diary can be found in Onyx Trainer’s School. In it, Amaria confides about her dissatisfaction with feeling like she is constantly drowning. Though she recognizes that she has many great things in her life, including Titania, none of these things are enough to make her feel happy. Because of this, she feels her life is hopeless, and meaningless.
Rhodochrine Jungle[]
Before the player confronts Team Meteor, Amaria can be found observing them from behind the foliage and flora. She is relieved to see the player, and offers to heal their Pokemon. When spoken to again, she implies that she only really feels valuable when helping others.
During the confrontation, Amaria clashes against Corey. She calls out his remarks on reality and life as edgy, and states that some people actually try to live. However, their battle is cut short when Heather is brutally defeated by Lin. Corey immediately leaves his battle to aid her. Lin notices Amaria’s Sapphire Bracelets and assaults her, demanding that she hand them to her. Amaria refuses, asserting that she will not let them go because of Titania, who gave them to her.
Jasper Ward[]
The player runs into Amaria again after defeating Shade asking if they'd like to help fix the water pollution caused at Mosswater Industrial in Peridot.
Blacksteam Factory[]
The player encounters Solaris who attempts to kill them but is saved by Amaria. Solaris notices Amaria's sapphire bracelets and proceeds to fight Amaria with the bracelets on the line while the player fights ZEL. After the player defeats ZEL, Solaris' Tyranitar uses Superpower on Amaria before retreating with Team Meteor. Amaria bids farewell and returns to her home to rest.
Fiore Mansion[]
Amaria is met again in Fiore Mansion where she is recovering from Tyranitar's attack that cracked her ribs. Titania tells the player to come back with Samson's badge and then she'll give you TMX3 Surf. When returning the player get's informed by Titania that Amaria went for a walk and goes to get TMX3 Surf herself, leaving her diary open. The player is then given the choice to read the diary or not, with either choice resulting in Titania finding the player near her diary. If you admit to reading it, she scolds you and if you admit to not having read it, she will see you as a liar. However, either choice will result in Amaria walking in and finding out what the diary says. Amaria claims that her heart that was mending was once again shattered, and leaves Fiore Mansion. You find Titania and Amaria at a waterfall. Titania attempts to talk Amaria out of it, but she inevitably jumps down the waterfall. Before jumping in after her, Titania warns the player that they better find a way to get them back up.
After the player maneuvers their way through the Water Treatment Center and rescues Amaria, she is brought back up to Fiore Mansion which is soon after attacked by Team Meteor. Florinia, Julia and the player helps Titania to fend them off. After Team Meteor retreats, and Amaria happens to wake up. She asks who the player is, and Julia replies they already met before. Amaria says the last thing she remembers was going to help Florinia with a plant problem at Obsidia Ward, which Florinia replies that Amaria must have suffered Amnesia. Titania asks what she is to Amaria, which she replies "the love of her life", Titania then leaves and Amaria decides to go back to her room to rest.
Plot Split!
The plot here varies depending on whether or not the player battles Taka in the Water Treatment Center or allows him to tag along in Tourmaline Desert. |
Fiore Arena[]
After the player acquires the Alloy Badge, Amaria is found inside of Fiore Arena's underwater area, having abandoned Titania at her Gym's arena. Amaria must then be spoken to at different rooms in Fiore Arena's underwater area in order to challenge her. At first, Amaria implies that she wishes to die. She realizes that this is an inappropriate thing to say to a challenger, so she clarifies that she simply wouldn’t mind dying. In addition, she claims Titania would be better off because of this, and that the player wouldn’t have to waste time on her. Later, Amaria compares the player to Titania because they both continue to follow her. Then, she explains to the player that Titania has been the only one to stay with her throughout her struggles with depression. Amaria knows that Titania’s done this even though Titania doesn’t love her.
Back at Fiore Arena, the player finds Titania and Amaria speaking to each other. Titania discloses to her some key events that transpired before her suicide attempt, including the attempt itself. Hearing this, and interrupting her before she talks about their breakup, Amaria asks Titania if she’ll protect her. When Titania tells her that she will, Amaria is overjoyed, declaring that she can let go of the Sapphire Bracelets, and that she loves Titania. Again, Amaria interrupts her silence and tells Titania that she doesn’t have to profess her love in front of a challenger. Titania leaves, and Amaria sustains that she’s keeping Titania as her girlfriend for as long as she can. Amaria expresses little concern at being killed, as long as she has Titania. Following that, Amaria asks the player if they think less of her. She is surprised if they don’t, and understanding if they do, thinking they’re probably right to think less of her. After her defeat, Amaria thanks the player for playing along, and bids them farewell. From here until the postgame, Amaria stays in Fiore Mansion under Titania’s protection.
After the player acquires the Alloy Badge, Amaria is found at her Gym’s arena, speaking to Lin. The player only sees the end of that conversation, however. Titania's absence confuses Amaria. She wonders why the player is there instead of Titania, and promptly swims underwater until Titania returns. Amaria must then be spoken to inside of different rooms in Fiore Arena's underwater area in order to be challenged. When spoken to, she reveals that she is already aware that Titania doesn’t love her. However, she is unable to let go of her, because of how much she has needed Titania throughout her struggles with depression. Because Titania hasn’t come back for her this time, and because the player has her [[Sapphire Bracelets[[, Amaria grows to resent the player. She thinks the player intends to make Titania leave her. In order to avoid this, Amaria locks the player in one of her underwater rooms, dooming them to drown. She believes Titania will never know who killed the player. Regardless of that, Titania rescues the player, immediately realizing that Amaria had tried to kill them. Amaria denies it to no avail, after which Titania breaks up her romantic relationship with Amaria. Amaria apologizes to the player, expressing disdain for herself, and goes back to Fiore Arena.
Back at her Gym's arena, Amaria apologizes once again, and speaks about how empty she feels. She assumes the player must think that she's unforgivable person who whines for attention, and subsequently asks them if they do think that. Regardless of wether the player answers ‘yes’ or ‘no’, Amaria replies that they don’t get it, because she, in part, sees herself that way. Amaria elaborates, stating that she cannot get rid of that part of herself, and that she remains livid with the player. She finishes her speech by asking the player wether they prefer Single or Double battles. Whichever format the player prefers, Amaria will choose the opposite of. In the aftermath of her defeat, Amaria tells the player that she is setting both them and Titania free. She additionally states that if she dies, she will finally be at peace.Calcenon City[]
Amaria does not appear here in this route.
Amaria is next encountered in Calcenon City, having overheard Saphira, Bennett, Laura, Hardy, Lumi, Eve, Cal, and Victoria talking about deactivating the wall of PULSE 09 - Mr. Mime, and Kiki’s death. She passive-aggressively remarks that most of the conflicts happening in those conversations were somehow caused by the player. She then diverts the topic to Julia’s several mishaps with her past boyfriends.
Once the wall is finally deactivated, Amaria tells the player that she hopes to fight alongside them in Labradorra City.Labradorra City[]
Amaria does not appear here in this route.
In the siege of Labradorra City, Amaria finds the player on their way to the PULSE 10 - Clawitzer being challenged by two New World Cultists. She offers them her help, asking if the player trusts her. Once again, regardless of the answer given by the player, Amaria will expect them to not trust her. The two succeed, and Amaria leaves, assuming the player doesn’t want her to hang around with them for long.
Labradorra Arena[]
Amaria does not appear here in this route.
After arriving at Labradorra Arena, Amaria is trapped in the building along with several others, including Julia, Florinia, and Titania. Along with everyone else in the building, Amaria is forced to enter Terra’s tournament. Terra teams her up with Julia to battle Titania and Florinia. Titania is quick to criticize Amaria for putting up a front of joy when her actual state is far removed from it. Amaria retorts that she is fighting for herself, to which Titania responds that Amaria puts the burden of caring for her on others, all the while using her own emotional pain to control them. Amaria then draws attention to the harm Titania has caused her for not letting go of her, and repeatedly taking on said burden. The two of them continue to go back and forth, with Titania still chiding Amaria for having a fake attitude in public and manipulating her into staying, and Amaria asserting that Titania is being unfair with her, Florinia, and Julia. Amaria and Julia are defeated in the battle that follows, which leads to them being “deleted” by Terra in the tournament. She is freed from this later on, after Florinia and the player defeat Terra.
New World (Route 2)[]
In Route 2, a portal into the New World appears. Amaria enters it to investigate, and the player finds her inspecting a tablet with braille writing inscribed upon it. Julia told her that the player had eloped with Lin. Amaria explains to the player that she went to New World (Route 2) first because it was near her house, yet found much difficulty in manually translating the writing. She tells the player that they will have to find someone other than Elias to translate the writing, as he is missing. As she leaves, she tells the player that she'll try to find another solution to the tablets with Titania.
In Route 2, a portal into the New World appears. Amaria enters it to investigate, and the player finds her inspecting a tablet with braille writing inscribed upon it. Julia told her that the player had eloped with Titania, which Amaria took as an unfunny joke. She asks the player if they’re there to clean up the mess they’ve left behind, and claims that they haven’t changed. Soon, she leaves, not wishing to manually translate the braille writing of New World (Route 2). She then tells the player that they will have to find someone other than Elias to translate the writing, as he is missing. Lastly, she says she will maybe see the player at the Nightclub, or maybe not.
Nightclub[]
In the Nightclub, Amaria assures to the player that she can be called for back-up, and that she will be on her best behavior.
Aegir Cave[]
Somehow, Amaria is possessed by the Blue Orb, ending up in Aegir Cave with Titania, who is possessed by the Red Orb. Because of the antithetical relationship between the two orbs, Amaria and Titania are immediately forced into Umbral states. This, in turn, forces them into a fight against each other, screaming insults in an unintelligible language. They are soon found by Julia, Florinia, and the player, who determine that Rayquaza is necessary in order to quell their fighting. Until the player acquires a Rayquaza, Florinia and Julia stay in Aegir Cave and prevent Amaria and Titania’s fight from further escalating.
The player later returns with a Rayquaza, which instantly draws the attention of Amaria and Titania. They both proceed to fight the player. After their defeat, Lin establishes contact with everyone in Aegir Cave, just before tossing Titania into the water. Amaria’s possession is quickly disabled by the player, and she dives into the water to rescue Titania. This only happens if the player has relationship points with Amaria that are equal to or higher than those with Titania.
After she has done so, Amaria laments that she has hurt the people around her. This includes the player, who she melted down in front of in her own Gym. Florinia interjects, recalling Amaria’s swimming lesson to her. Florinia’s grandfather caught them whilst Amaria was floating Florinia across mid-backstroke, and sent the custodians after them when they tried to run away. Florinia admits that this was the most fun she had ever had compared to all of the time that had passed since their graduation. This changes Amaria’s perspective, as she recognizes that she has been unfair and unforgiving to herself as well. She asks if self-forgiveness is truly something that can be chosen to do.
After the player has dealt with Groudon and Kyogre, Amaria speaks once again with Julia, Florinia, and Titania. She acknowledges and accepts that she’d rather not need lean on others, even if it isn’t pleasant to her, because she isn’t happy this way. Amaria also wishes for Titania to be free and move on. Julia points out that she is mostly telling that to herself, which Amaria admits, adding on that she needs to hear that from herself. Having saved Titania gives her some gratification, though she also expresses how tired she is of living out lies that she’s still trying to convince herself will end well. Titania replies by saying that rather than writing out happy endings for themselves, they should seek better stories to live by. Amaria agrees with this, and leaves.

The player later returns with a Rayquaza, which instantly draws the attention of Amaria and Titania. They both proceed to fight the player. After their defeat, Anna establishes contact with everyone in Aegir Cave, just before tossing either Amaria/Titania into the water. Whoever gets tossed out is whoever the player has the highest relationship points with. Titania/Amaria's possession is quickly disabled by the player, and she dives into the water to rescue Amaria/Titania.

A special report from... the Investigation Squad! Yo, Reborn City! What's up?! We're here with the Reborn Rundown giving you a look at the leaders of the Reborn League! I'm your host, DJ Arclight, now on air! Today we'll be talking about an admirable allure the astounding alacrity of the aqua artist, Amaria Fiore! Amaria is Reborn's most senior leader-- not in age, mind you, as this maritime maiden in as fair on the eyes as she is on the heart-- But despite her youth she was the first leader chosen by former Champion and Reborn League Manager Ame to take up a Gym Leader title. Apparently the two of them were somehow close friends and inspired each other to take steps to re-open the old league! So for all those trainers out there enjoying Reborn and its challengers, remember-- you've got Amaria Fiore to thank for it! The lass has also made quite a splash in Reborn City's development in the past even aside from that, having been responsible for tracking down and shutting up some of Reborn City's most environmentally-damaging facilities. Those who've seen her in action know that her star player, a Lapras named Deliverance, should only be under-estimated by those who to themselves be dragged under. And how does a Pokemon get a name like that, you may wonder. From what Miss Amaria has said in the past, it seems like it earned its name firsthand. She tells a story about a time when she was swimming far out from the coast, only to be caught in the middle of a storm! Make no mistake-- Amy is a stunning swimmer, but stormy seas can sink even the most stout ships. So it was when Amaria though she'd drawn her last breath that she found herself pulled first to the surface and second safety by a Pokemon! That Pokemon would be her lifelong companion, who she named Deliverance in thanks for it saving her life. Turns out Deliverance saves more than just lives though, with many of Amaria's past challengers having been staring it down as the face of defeat, in what otherwise seemed like a won match for them. As Amaria announces-- Deliverance always pulls through for her! That's all for now, but remember, Trainers, Keep fighting with everything you've got! Hold your spirits high, and even you can defeat the Reborn League! |

Gossip Gardevoir's interview intermission! Hello! Gossip Gardevoir here in Interview Intermission, bringing YOU the inside scoop on Reborn's celebrity figures! I'm here today at the homestead and gymstead of one of Reborn's most popular trainers, Ms. Amaria Fiore! Unfortunately, and in a surprise twist for our Interview Intermission, Amaria is actually not available for comment right now......seeing as she is currently setting up for battle! GARDEVOIR: There's been quite a lot going on in this bubbly beauty's life, but luckily, your truest friend, Gossip Gardevoir, is here to catch up to speed. See, after a recent accident of questionably self-inflicted causes, Ms. Fiore here has developed a sudden textbook case of retrograde amnesia, And as such has forgotten everything that's occured in recent events, including things that should have been precious to her and her loved ones. GARDEVOIR: The battle that's taking place today is not between her and a challenger, but between her and a representative of the Reborn League, To asses if she is still able to retain her position despite her condition! Everything is on the line for Amaria today! If it proves that her battling ability went down the drain with her memory, she could find herself out of a job in a snap! Let's cut to the battlefield now and see how she's doing! GARDEVOIR: ...Oh, there's nothing happening? Have they not started yet? ...What do you mean they're already finished!? I was still giving the intro! What kind of battle was that?! GARDEVOIR: O-oh. I...I see. Well, folks, In a turn of events that is at once altogether unsurprising yet unexpected, In the time it took me to preface the battle, Amaria has already beaten her opponent for a flawless 6-0 KO victory! GARDEVOIR: Gotta hand it to the woman of the water, she sure knows how to cling onto her talent even when she loses everything else! And that, my dear viewers, is exactly proof as to why she is one of Reborn's most famous Gym Leaders! |
Journal Entry[]
Amaria's Entry |
I don't know, diary. I know I have everything a girl could possibly want. I have lots of friends, an amazing partner, a great education and life... ...But it doesn't feel like it. I try to always smile and be cheery. I'm very good at it, apparently, or else I might not have made cheerleader captain! I guess I was secretly hoping that would make me happy on the inside, too. But I guess that was naive. I'm tired of feeling this way. I'm tired of feeling like I'm always drowning. Tania tries her best for me, I know that. And I appreciate it so much... But in the end, will it even make a difference? I'll see you in meaningless tomorrow, with another false smile. |

Trivia[]
- Amaria's name might come from a wordplay on “mar”, meaning “sea” in various languages. It might also come from “amar”, meaning “to love” in Spanish.
- Amaria's VS sprite changes depending on the player's in-game choices.
- The nicknames Amaria uses for her Pokemon seem to be based from either cloud types, sea names, their species, or anything aquatic related. The only exception seems to be her Lapras, Deliverance. "Deliverance" usually means to be rescued or set free, which references from when the Lapras saved Amaria from drowning.
- Amaria's attempted suicide was in one of the four images to be seen in Shade's Gym, the other three being Corey's suicide, Kiki's death, and Lin's death.
- Amaria is the first gym leader to use Z-moves on their team, only in the Zekrom route though. In the Reshiram Route no gym leader uses Z-moves in the whole game so far.
- Her Trainer class names during her gym battle reflects what happens to her in the route
- Flotsam is defined as debris in the water that was not deliberately thrown overboard, often as a result from a shipwreck or accident.
